CIF Supply Partner Carefoot Appointed by Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS FT
Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust through Construction Impact Framework (CIF) have appointed Walter Carefoot & Sons to carry out the demolition of the existing Maternity Unit at Chorley and South Ribble District Hospital. Carefoot were successfully appointed last month following a mini-competition via CIF earlier in the year, Carefoot are due to start works in late August 2020 with an estimated completion of November 2020.
The project consists of the demolition of the hospitals existing Maternity Unit and the creation of a staff car park. The unit that is to be demolished has been vacant for a number of months in preparation for the start of works, however all adjacent building are in full use of the hospital. The strip out and demolition of the existing three storey maternity block including the partial demolition of the adjacent first floor link corridor, removal of slabs, foundations and drains below the building. The area of the existing building to be left level with a compacted stone blinded surface to provide temporary carparking.
