Our investment in The Princes Trust and Salford Royal Foundation Trust’s “Get into Hospital” course is at midpoint. Having worked with the Princes Trust Volunteers for over a decade CIF Director, Sara Lawton, is thrilled to be able to support both the PTV and young people who access their services.

“Sophie … the story so far”.

Sophie studied catering at college and had just finished her course when she found out about the Prince’s Trust programme. She wanted something productive to do and to keep motivated. Sophie also felt that she lacked confidence so thought the course could help her build this as well as meeting new people. Sophie started on 9th October and was placed in the Catering department at Salford Royal, a natural match given her recent studies.

Midway through and Sophie loves her placement and hopes that it will lead to a job. Sophie is loving working with such friendly staff. She’s been busy with food prep and hopes to progress to the customer service aspect next.

Sophie says she feels that she’s gained a lot of confidence and that she is able to use her initiative more than she thought she could. This has encouraged Sophie and is helping to instil a can-do attitude and raising aspiration. We’re so looking forward to following the remainder of Sophie’s journey.

“Although Sophie had a career path in mind that she wanted to follow, a lack of confidence coupled with lack of opportunity meant Sophie was at risk of not fulfilling her dream. We are delighted to have been able to help Sophie work towards her dream job”.
