Client: Liverpool John Moores University

Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) procured the creation of 6 new Student Spaces across the university campus to provide dedicated places for students to relax and socialise with friends.

Students were very clear that they wanted space to relax, use mobile devices, socialise and do ‘casual’ study. While each space will have common design features, they are all slightly different reflecting the needs of students at each location.

Jan Murphy, Director of Strategic Partnership Initiatives

The social spaces project is a huge win for LJMU students. It has featured their views from the very start, helping them shape the spaces that they will spend time in on campus. From picking types of furniture to lighting fixtures and fittings, students’ views have led our thinking every step of the way.

Aisling David, Students’ Union President

ADT Workplace who delivered the project, explained that the two key challenges were to design a scheme that met budgetary restraints and deliver the works with minimal disruption within a limited window of time outside the academic year.

“CIF is a great procurement vehicle that enables us to approach potential clients as a way to solve their procurement problems. We avoid cheapest price tendering and through CIF clients acknowledge a clear value to accessing our full range of design & interior build services” Alan White, Business Development Manager for ADT Workplace.
