Northern Care Alliance appoint CIF supply partner John Turner Construction for MRI Replacement Scheme
Northern Care Alliance NHS Group have appointed John Turner Construction to carry out MRI Replacement Scheme works as the group’s Salford Royal Hospital. John Turner were appointed in June 2020 following a mini competition through the CIF framework. John Turner commenced works on site in July 2020 and works are estimated to be complete by the end of the year.
The works to be carried out by John Turner are to undertake the enabling works to facilitate the installation of 3 new MRI scanners. Works also include the consideration of decommissioning and removing the existing redundant scanners as well as the installation of the new scanners.
The scheme is split over two separate areas of the hospital site, the Irvine building and the Humphrey Booth building. These buildings are adjacent to one another and as such the construction works will be served by one contractors compound.
The Irvine building work is a ground floor single storey extension to the current building footprint with a new external plant compound. The Humphrey Booth building is a first floor refit of a current neuro scanner clinical space.
John Turner will deliver the scheme in one single phase and will be working within a live hospital environment.
CIF consultants Day Architectural and Steven A Hunt & Associates provided a full construction drawing pack with project budget plan and M&E drawing package for the scheme respectively.
CIF M&E contractors The James Mercer Group and A Copeland Group are also part of the project contractor team carrying out mechanical works and electrical works respectively.
