In 2016, Salford Royal Foundation Trust (SRFT) commenced the procurement for the refurbishment programme of its 19 operating theatres via CIF. Following a steady rise in surgical activity at Salford, maintaining and enhancing existing theatres was a key focus of the SRFT, as they look ensure patients are able to access the surgical treatment they need in a timely manner.

Given the nature of the facility that was being refurbished, this was a particularly specialised project that required the implementation of several measures to negate the effects such work might have on the surrounding environment. For example dust, noise and infection control measures had to be strictly implemented and adhered to, to protect other nearby theatres and other facilities.

Carefoot PLC was the CIF supply partner selected to undertake the works and Managing Director, Colin Carefoot Managing Director added “Sara and her team at CIF provide Carefoot and our clients with the mechanism to maximise the delivery of social value gained from projects. CIF is a refreshing approach to construction projects that is driven by passion and experience. To see the funds raised by the Theatre refurbishment project bring positive Social Impact right here in the Hospital, is a perfect example of how Social Value can be delivered from construction projects. For decades, Carefoot have worked within local communities to make a positive difference beyond our contractual obligations, and, the CIF enables us to formalise our ethos”.
